Re: Ins and Outs 2024
I agree with Aldo.
The SANFL need to do more to help our club.
Financially penalising a club that has finished bottom 5 years straight is making things worse.
I’ve said it before but struggling clubs in the AFL get massive assistance in terms of compensation to get them competitive.
It appears the opposite In the SANFL…

Re: Ins and Outs 2024
Announcement on Henley Football Club Facebook page:
“We are pleased to announce the signing of Kane Sherlock for the 2024 season.
Kane has spent the last 6 seasons at the West Adelaide FC where he had a breakout season in 2023.
Kane made his league debut, finished top 10 in the league B&F and won the Keith Reynolds Memorial trophy for the best first year player from the West Adelaide Zone.
A tough defender who is strong in the air and a very good ball user, at only 21 years of age we see Kane as a key part of our football club in 2024 and beyond.
Please join us in welcoming Kane to the shark family.”

Re: Ins and Outs 2024
I think the coach said in an interview last year that Kane was going to give League footy away but was talked into playing on last season, so not such a big surprise really.
Be good to hear about someone coming the other way though.

Re: Ins and Outs 2024
Sherlock and Mattingly were 2 of our better younger players and they are gone.
We’ve lost a dozen players from last year and brought in 4 players…..
2 of those have knee injuries.
This club is going nowhere…

Re: Ins and Outs 2024
I am not so close to the goings on at the club, but all i can say is I agree with the above. We have lost a lot more than has been signed and from what I saw of our reserves and U18s, there was not 10-12 league standard players ready to step up.
As for our recruits so far, no ex-AFL signings to date and very little to get excited about in 2024.
I certainly wont be getting too invested as it looks like yet another long year ahead around the bottom of the ladder which has well and truly lost its fun after nearly a decade now.

Re: Ins and Outs 2024
I agree with the above posters.
We’ve lost, Beech, Mattingly and Sherlock and recruited Searle.
We finished bottom in 2023and our playing list on paper is worse than last year.
This would be the worst Recruiting by the club ever. I really hope the Football Director is asking very serious questions of our Football Dept.
It is unacceptable what’s happened.
Mark Ross who is now at Centrals makes things happen that’s the type of person we need at our club.

Re: Ins and Outs 2024
You are spot on Lachlan.
Central have totally revamped their squad.
25 signings in the last two off seasons.
They are now strong again.
Our recruiting is abysmal. Almost non existent this year and it was terrible the year before. Nicholls, Glanville and Mulady all quit within 12 months.
But apparently ‘ we are developing from within’
What nonsense!!!!

Re: Ins and Outs 2024
Recruiting has never been more important for us and yet it's never been this quiet on the recruiting front in living memory. We're already being tipped to finish last again.
1) The club needs to undertake some sort of assessment of why this has occurred and then take steps to improve the situation.
2) The long-suffering members need an explanation.

Re: Ins and Outs 2024
It’s frustrating for members.
It’s hard to have any sort of optimism for 2024.
It looks like we will have ONE new face in our round 1 team - Brady Searle…
One can only assume that we simply cannot attract players because we cannot afford to pay them….

Re: Ins and Outs 2024
I’d love to see what Harts could do without one hand tied behind his back each year.
The club has little hope to sell for prospective members and clearly can’t/won’t attract any decent players anymore.

from facebook
We’re excited to add Wyatt Ryan to our list for 2024 and watch him make a huge impact for us!
He comes to us from the Central District Football Club and is now currently playing for Southern Districts in the Northern Territory Football League and will join us at the conclusion of their season. He is 21 years of age and stands at 196cm tall.
