annual report
have heard the annual report delay is that the person responsible for it is no longer at the club
and the new football manager is doing the best he can to get it done
so maybe we might have the right person doing the job at last
have heard the last manager wasn't competent enough to do the job

Re: annual report
Macca,
Given that the former Football Manager left over 3 months ago I question in any way he has had any impact on the Annual Report being late. Rather, in his absence someone at the club has overlooked that a season review was required for the Annual Report.
The responsibility for the production of the Annual Report on time consistent with the Constitution is with the CEO and as such it is up to him to ensure various entities around the club (including the President, Board Member & Senior Staff) get their reports in or follows up --- then there is a need to get it compiled and PDF/printed -- if any area is late then it is up to the CEO to make it happen.
Lee is attending the club at the moment so in friendship I point out to you some site conventions for your understanding as you may not be aware of them.
Please consider editing your comments to meet the guidelines my friend.
Unsubstantiated rumors damage the Club.

However, we also agree that there is a fine line to be negotiated at such times and we shouldn't restrict free speech and opinion. If posters could keep in mind that comments should be constructive, where possible, or backed up with facts or reason, it would raise the tone of the discussion and perhaps lead to a better result. Purely destructive criticism helps nobody.

Re: annual report
Thank you, oldfella, you are absolutely correct.
The previous Football Manager was there for 10 years & the Annual Report was never late.
I confirm what oldfella said about the site rules and defamation or personal attacks.
Please be careful in future.
The CEO is responsible for the Annual Report & the football report is only a small part of the report.

Re: annual report
Friday afternoon, 5 days before the AGM and still no Report.
I think we'd all be forgiving if the club had apologised and/or told us why there was a delay.

I think the Constitution needs to be amended so that there is a requirement that there be a minimum period of time between the issuing of the Annual Report and the AGM.

Re: annual report
The Annual Report is now up.
Profit down $80K, not much else said, but it's all going to be better in the future.
Disappointingly, probably the first President's Report to not specifically thank the previous Board, especially given the circumstances, so I put on record my thanks to the hard-working, West Adelaide football supporting previous Board.

Re: annual report
I hope people read the Annual Report to see the amount of good work done by so many great West Adelaide volunteers.
As you know, my worry is how the Board affects our on-field performance. When you break down all the financial details, the end result is, as I've said all along, that we are in no danger of ceasing because of finances. Whatever Board is in, we have always been tracking towards being debt free before too long. The previous Board had always planned to buy out the Wolfpack at about this time as well.
In my financial report 2 years ago, I said our main financial task was to make sure we didn't make significant trading losses, as that would put back the date to be debt free. We managed that in the previous two years, but this year's result is $80K worse.
I'm not surprised to see fulsome praise of the SANFL in the President's Report, along with the statement that the relationship with the SANFL is much improved. I don't step back from opposing the SANFL on the effects of their salary cap restriction as a bad thing.
Even after the much improved financial results over the past two years, to the extent that for the first time the auditors noted 'significant improvement' last year (not there this year), the SANFL was still scathing about our financial performance. Somehow I'm not sure they will be this time after a much worse result.
It's not easy opposing the SANFL, they usually get what they want.

In the past Players segment of the Annual report it mentions that Ron Benton won the 1947 Magarey Medal.
Ron won the 1957 medal.

Also the "Rodger Luders" Medal should be the 'Roger Luders' Medal.
First time I can recall there being no Senior Coach's report in the Annual Report. It was always the bit I was most interested in reading.

You can have an opinion, hotdip/macca, but all your posts are personal attacks on the same one or two people. All.
You have an obvious agenda, no doubt on behalf of others.
Try having an opinion on football.

Re: annual report
At AGM last night the CEO apologized for the late Annual Report and took full responsibility --- from memory he advised he misinterpreted the Constitution.
Whilst we could all attack him for this I believe that whilst yes there was an error made by fronting the members and making his open admission and apology he handled this situation in a appropriate manner.
As a wise man said many years ago "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone ".I definitely wont be the one to cast the first stone LOL

Yes, I agree oldfella.
Perhaps Macca/Hotdip might rethink his first post on this topic.
