Re: WEST V BAYS.
Agree on both counts, ST.
I'm hoping you'll be pleasantly surprised with some improvements in catering Friday night.

Let's assume Beech, Porplyzia and Agostino come in. (Not sure about Green, and I'd think Wasley-Black would have to come back via the Reserves.) Who misses out?
For me it's Waite, Anderson and Bates.
Brett Turner also seems to have found some form in the Reserves.

Anderson had been really good and I wouldn’t drop him. Bates was good last game

Re: WEST V BAYS.
I would also think Webb would be available.
Therefore I would leave out Noonan,Pillon,L. Evans and Head.
I think Turner is a good footballer and as I have stated before I hope he gets the opportunity to play in the midfield when he gets back into the league side.
He has been playing as a permanent half Forward or forward pocket for the past couple of season which means he has been starved of opportunities. He may need another game in the ressies.

My team would be
FF Beech Webb Porps
HF Rankine Middleton Karpanny
C Noble Stevens Waite
HB Hill Wilson Agostino
FB J.Evans Ryan Burgess
Ruck McPherson Keough Schiller
INT Anderson Batley Bates.
I would also rest Keough up Forward at times during the match as he would be very hard to match up on.

Re: WEST V BAYS.
I think Noonan has given us some real dash, he has quite a penetrating kick and I think he's a better footballer than Waite.
I also think Pillion should hold his spot. He still makes the odd blue but he's genuinely creative and is also a very good kick. His effort last week near the boundary line, to tap the ball along the ground past an opponent, run around him and then tackle him and win a holding the ball free, before playing on and kicking smartly to Keough (who goaled) was something out of nothing. He followed that up with his own crumbing goal in the goal square. If he can generate two goals a game he's almost worth his spot for that at this stage.

Its a good situation to be in that we are discussing players that should and shouldn't be in the league side.

Re: WEST V BAYS.
I am always reluctant to change a winning side. I'd keep backing in the kids such as Pillion, Noonan, Evans etc. That said, Green's last match against Centrals was very strong and Beech is a class player, so if fit, would have them in (maybe Head and Bates?)
Would suggest Porps has another run in the 2's. Wasley-Black has a couple in the 2s before even being considered for League

Re: WEST V BAYS.
Jason Porplyzia will make his long awaited return to the West Adelaide league side after suffering an ACL injury in a trial game in 2017. Porplyzia has played the last two games in the development side, getting second best on ground last week against South Adelaide.
Jono Beech, Jack Agostino and Daniel Webb have been named in the extended bench after both suffering injuries over the last few weeks.
Dustin Head and Tom Pillion who both played great games last week have been squeezed out of the side and will play reserves.
INS: Porplyzia, Jason; Beech, Jonathon; Webb, Daniel; Agostino, Jack
OUTS: Head, Dustin; Pillion, Thomas

League
West Adelaide veteran Jason Porplyzia could return for the first time in two seasons against Glenelg on Friday night.
The 2015 premiership star hasn’t played at Macca’s League level since Round 7 2016 due to a series of serious knee injuries but has been named on the extended interchange bench.
He has been joined by former Crow Jono Beech, who has recovered from a back ailment, ruckman Daniel Webb and steady defender Jack Agostino.
Their return has forced Dustin Head and Thomas Pillion to be sent back to the Reserves.

Re: WEST V BAYS.
I have to be honest and say I am sick of losing
How can you go to a game and put up with s*** like that week after week year after year
And having to hear this is the time the club needs you
Why do we bother
I love my club but it's bloody hard to be positive

Re: WEST V BAYS.
What a weak performance on our home deck against a side that had only had one win.
The Milera’s ran rings around us and ended up with 6 goals between them.
Our forward line was non existent after quarter time.

Cant really understand how we got that close. After Q time the Bays pressure stopped our run. Very ordinary performance considering we finally got Beech, Rankine and Porps all on the park together.

Re: WEST V BAYS.
Smashed in ruck, smashed at stoppages - if not in terms of the number of clearances, then certainly in the quality.
Several of our younger players were very ordinary, and several of our better/more experienced players made little or no contribution.
Maybe it's the way of the modern game but it looks so bad when the opposition split you open and move the ball into an open forward 50 for an easy mark and score.
We also don't seem to know how to stop an opponent's momentum within a quarter.
Bottom line for me - we haven't got enough good footballers.

Re: WEST V BAYS.
I agree with you Aldo 100%.
We were smashed in the ruck and stoppages especially in the centre square.
We were very slow with our ball movement and I thought the bays tackling was far superior to ours.
Many times we were opened up by Glenelg which meant they kicked
easy goals.
Our Midfield lacks depth and we just don’t have enough good SANFL Players at the present time.
Our younger players really struggled including L&J Evans,Ryan,McPherson
and Karpany who doesn’t find enough of the ball. There were others as well.
Turner has been best in the ressies for the past 3 weeks and he clearly needs another opportunity at league level. It's time to try him in the midfield for the next month in the league side.

Re: WEST V BAYS.
Yes. We just don't have the cattle. And we haven't since the Premiership.
The only solution is we need to recruit better. Developing younger players is not a short term or a long term solution - It DOES NOT WORK.
