West v Adelaide
I'd like to see 5 changes this week.
In: Tozer, Tredwell, Dylan White, Patterson, J.Stevens
Out: N. Stevens, McCormick, Jordan White, Minchella, Bock
I'd make more if we had more options.

I understand footy today is based on the role you play but I have to agree with Aldo regarding Minchella, White and Bock.
I can’t understand why we have 3 defenders who seem to be playing shut down roles every week

Juniors play afterwards. Not the first time the reserves have started at 9.30 this year. Reserves have also started at 10 this year. I remember one year the reserves started at 8.30 on a cold morning at Woodville with u/18s playing in betweenLee Harradine wrote:9.30??????

Its hard when the SANFL AFL sides in the league and they don't reserves team, You have the reserves and league playing at different ground on the same day. One example North and Norwood reserves played 3 weeks in a row.Lee Harradine wrote:Thanks Thiele

The team is up. Jordan White out, Meline in.
Selection is just unfathomable to me. I prefer the old days when it was based on form.

I have to agree Aldo.
Joel Stevens even though he was very quiet in his return game, he should be playing league. It’s ridiculous and Tozer should be given an opportunity as well

We are a basket case!
Failed to score a goal in the second half.
Simply not worth watching this mob anymore.
Can we merge with someone else?????

Re: West v Adelaide
The game turned in the second quarter when we gifted them multiple goals with stupid decisions and awful kicking. But after half time we just couldn't mount any sort of threat at all. Our lack of run (whether it's pace or fitness or both) showed up as the game wore on, and the handball differential suggests we weren't providing enough running options.
Very hard to think of good players today - probably Patton and Frost, and I thought Wyatt Ryan's first half in ruck against Strachan nullified him a bit.
Surely we make changes this week.

Re: West v Adelaide
Bramich kicking 4 goals in the reserves was conspicuous. I agree with Aldo's observation about the beginning of the second quarter. I remember two incidents vividly. There was one out on the full, the turnover from which the Crows scored. Then a switch in play where the defender attempted to play on, only to be caught holding the ball and the Crows scored again. It was retrievable at half time as we were still in front but our work-rate really dropped off. On another note, I was really disappointed that gates only opened at midday ahead of the 12.10pm start, which meant we could not see the great banner that Neil and the cheer squad team had put together.

Re: West v Adelaide
When lower teams play more talented teams, there's a frequent pattern.
The first half is close. As players tire after half-time, the more talented team has slightly more time to execute and the score blows out.
4 points after half-time is poor and I don't know a Coach who would be happy with it.
We have to be realistic. Our me⁸diocrity comes from excusing sub-standard performances.

Re: West v Adelaide
The second half was a training for the Crows.
The Crows are obviously very talented when they basically have a full list to pick from.
The problem for us is the LACK OF GENUINE TALENT. When we come up against good SANFL sides we are found wanting BIG TIME
When you finish bottom for the past 4 years and you recruit one league player to the club then it should come as no surprise to anyone as to the result today.
You get what you deserve.
It’s about time the club made a GENUINE EFFORT TO GET HIGH QUALITY PLAYERS TO THE CLUB NEXT YEAR.
it’s something the club has failed to do for far too long.
Our midfield is so thin perhaps the thinnest in the comp.
And we have no Key Position Players who can take a contested mark regularly.

Re: West v Adelaide
If we are going to win next week to avoid the wooden spoon we need to do something drastic. I would drop at least 5 players and replace them with guys who played yesterday who won't have the six day back up. Would go Bramich, Tozer, McGuire, D White and maybe a Mooney or McMillan for pace

I’d be promoting a Joel a Stevens he’s a proven League player.
Who would I drop
N.Stevens
Ellam
Hansen
McCormack.
And that’s off the top of my head.

Re: West v Adelaide
So, what to take from this embarrassing and inept performance? In front at half time after a spirited start. Up against a side with 16 AFL listed players, many with quite a lot of AFL experience. Ran out of fuel in the last half and stood around like witches hats as the opposition tore us apart. Couldn’t manage a goal in the last half of footy. Our CHF got one kick and took zero marks. 16 of our players didn’t make double figures in the kick department. One opposition player kicked more than our total score.
They say the definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting the same result.
Changes must be made. We need some marking power up forward. We need to keep the ball in our forward line to maximise scoring chances. We have to stop kicking the ball out of bounds.
With the exception of Will Patton we havn’t introduced a young player this season who has made any sort of impact.

Re: West v Adelaide
To beat Sturt who are very difficult to score against given Mattners game plan we need to kick 10 goals. This probably means kicking over their defensive wall and getting our small forwards to run on to it. Otherwise play Bramich at full forward and hope he grabs a few. If we play kicking sideways and backwards we won't score

Re: West v Adelaide
The truth is we don’t have enough TALENT to be a force in the SANFL.
This situation has been going on for the past 6 years.
Players have been gifted games due to the lack of talent at the club.
The club needs to support Adam Hartlett much more by getting better players to the club.
You cannot fault the players efforts but effort can only take you so far and we are simply limping to the end of the season.
