West v Adelaide
Another in our few remaining chances to avoid another wooden spoon.
Anderson came off injured and must be in doubt. Redfern to replace him or one of the mids.
Maybe Hupfeld to CHB at the expense of Elliot.
Under the pump would be P.Fairlie and Maguire. Maybe Haysman or Schiller get another look in.
We need a win for a bit of hope and confidence.

Pat Levicki and Murray Waite both retiring from SANFL football.
Injuries too much for the level required for SANFL.

Re: West v Adelaide
A fit Murray Waite was an important player for us. He played some good games.
Pat Levicki never really showed his best.
Good luck to both players if they decide to play in a lower comp.

Re: West v Adelaide
A good decision to give Cleeland a crack at being the ruckman.
Taverner back to the 2s. He has been disappointing. A couple of players are lucky to hold their spots in the league team.
If we are to avoid a third successive wooden spoon, we must win this game on Saturday.
The Crows team looks reasonable and is certainly not their weakest side they have put out.
Murphy a big in for them.

Re: West v Adelaide
West Adelaide has changed its lead ruckman for the clash with Adelaide at Hisense Stadium.
Jade Cleeland has been recalled to start at the first bounce in place of Stuart Taverner, who has been sent back to the Reserves.
Four players – Hugh Haysman, Tom Morrish, Nick Steele and possible debutant Luke Redfern – have been added to the 25-man squad.
Redfern, recruited from Coolamon Rovers, is one of seven players on the extended interchange, which must be trimmed by three before the bounce.

With AFL emergencies Adelaide could have about 15 AFL players playing. I think Strachan could hurt us badly. I thought we'd win last week so I'm too scarred to pick us this week.

Nice pun, Aldo. Yes, I think we all feel the pain - scarred from past wishful thinking, so scared to be optimistic. Â If we can't beat Adelaide, it will be unlikely that we can avoid another spoon.

'Scarred' was a deliberate choice Bruce, but both are appropriate.
I'd like to see us try a couple of different things this week.
Give Fejo a run on the ball for some genuine pace there.
When he's not on ball try Squire as a small forward - his overhead marking is very strong for his size.
Try Duval as forward for a quarter or two.

Re: West v Adelaide
Have to agree with Aldo.
For a side that’s won 2 games we don’t change things up enough.
With 8 games to go, maybe we should try a few different things.

Re: West v Adelaide
Yes we should be trying something different and I have been saying that for sometime.
It seems as though modern coaches are reluctant to try players in different positions.
If you train with the defensive group it means you play there for the whole game.

Taverner didn't play in the Reserves. Late change to the League side?

No Game Plan
No Structure
No skills
An absolute rabble. That is what we are.
The football we are playing at the moment is some of the worst I have seen from our club.

Re: West v Adelaide
Agree wolf pack, no system or skill is the hallmark of west along with no size.
We are clearly the worst team in the comp and look to be getting worse as opposed to improving as the season goes.
It’s not worth watching to be brutally honest.

Re: West v Adelaide
On a side note. The Modern Game is absolute rubbish to watch.
There was a boundary throw in in the Crows forward pocket and there wasn’t one single West player forward of centre.
What’s the point of getting the ball, stream forward and see no player ahead.
It’s a farce.

Re: West v Adelaide
The modern game is okay if you support one of the teams that is good at it I guess, but I do miss the 90s style. . There is no spine in the team or mature bodies, but even our smaller lack pace and skill.

Re: West v Adelaide
Sad times. A loss like that against the 9th side is a big worry.
The kitchen being closed after a Saturday home game is also a worry. Hope that is a one-off only.
We desperately need to improve over the last games to come.
What size crowd?

Re: West v Adelaide
Crowd was under 1000.
Whist we were terrible, the Crows aren’t the 9th side.
They are a win outside the top 5.
I think the Kitchen being closed is the least of our problems at the moment.

Re: West v Adelaide
I think that what the ladder shows after 11 rounds is that there isn’t a lot between teams 5 to 9.
Then there is daylight, and
then comes West Adelaide.
As has been said numerous times, this club just disappoints it’s supporters week after week and year after year.
We have shown no improvement this year compared to last year.
The last month has been abysmal.
Where is the effort and intensity that we showed in round 1 against Glenelg?
Our coach has come in with a big reputation and is well credentialed but this year has been an absolute disaster.

Re: West v Adelaide
Unless there were exceptional circumstances, (sudden illness, major equipment fault, etc.) then the Kitchen being closed seems typical of the general malaise at West Adelaide in the last couple of years, after we were promised so much. Falling Membership and dwindling numbers attending games, lack of communication from the Board, an appalling on field performance, etc. etc. is inexcusable. Not that Members have any input in how the Club is run. Historically, Port Adelaide in the SANFL had (!) a creed of "Win", we have a had creed of accepting bland mediocrity. I don't include the women's team or the under 18's, I'm looking higher up the order.Wolf Pack wrote:
