Past Players & Officials room

If any members have not made the effort to have a look through the Past Players & Officials room which is located at the Northern end of the Mound Bar you are really missing a great opportunity.

Even though you may not have played for the club or have been an official of the club you are very welcome to pop in & have a look. Make yourself known to BERNIE or any of the committee & they will show you through.

It is an absolute eye opener. Lead by one of our passionate 1983 Premiership players in BERNIE CONLEN & ably assisted by the committee which includes Craig Bennetts, Keiren SPORN, Robert Day the room boasts magnificent photographs of past players along with plaques listing every player who has played at least one league game for the club, their debut date & number.

The West Adelaide Past Players is the envy of every SANFL Club & there is no doubt in my mind that we lead the way in this initiative.

BERNIE CONLEN is so proud of the room & has worked tirelessly in pulling it all together. I commend him & his helpers for their efforts. They have every right to be extremely PROUD.

Have a look you won't be dissapointed.

Well done to all who have put in there time to get it going. I will make an effort to take a look in the near future, sounds fantastic.

Love hearing about this sort of thing, I think it's so important. I think Collo made the club realise it wasn't as proud of its history as it should be.

Yes Aldo you are correct. ANDY Collins had a massive impact on the club even though his defensive style of play did not make for pleasant viewing.

It must not be forgotten that we played in 2 consecutive finals series including a GF & won the now defunct Foxtel Cup trophy. The first piece of silverware for many yrs.

Although I sing his praises there were other areas of his nature that were very difficult to deal with.

His drive & determination to improve things off field are quite evident throughout the change rooms, the gym, the Hall of Fame etc etc.

The recognition of the history of WAFC is better off since his tenure.
