Re: Round 6 v Adelaide
Delahunty should have been playing already. After Brand and Josh Ryan he looks to be the best defender at the club. He comes in for Hupfeld or Morrish, depending on how tall Adelaide go.
Gay is a very clever forward who can take a strong mark and is a neat kick. Won't need a lot of touches to be productive. He replaces Steele.
Along with Kobe Ryan I'd bring Cade Kennedy up too, he looks ready. They replace Allan and Chamberlain.
Beech, if fit, replaces Fairlie.
And Corbett comes in for Ellem.
And if they want to bring up Laudato there are several who could make way for him - Maguire, Boyle or Squire.
And maybe try Lemmey behind the ball for a quarter, just to get him into the game and get some confidence, maybe as an intercept mark in defence, instead of leaving the kid to rot in our forward 50 Sahara.

I read on another site that a loss this week would create the longest losing streak in the club's history.

Hamish Hartlett appointed an Assistant Coach for Port Power AFLW team.
Presumably will continue on our list. Working for us?

We had a 364 day streak under Mickan which ended with a home game win over North Adelaide in 2017. I assume this was our previous one.

Thanks Bottle Top. As it was given in days, not games, I wasn't sure.
Do you know what the details are regarding our previous infamy?

My error, we are currently on 18 straight losses. (equal 2nd worst for the club)
1st. 22 losses from Rd 11, 1897 - Rd 1 1899. (lost all 14 games in 1898)
2nd. 18 losses from Rd 10 1905 - Rd 2 1907. (lost all 12 games in 1906).
3rd. 16 losses from Rd 14 2016 - Rd 9 2017.
4th. 14 losses from Rd 3 - Rd 16 1974.
a fair chance to notch up a third winless season.

The year after that 1907 season, we were Champions of Australia and Premiers 4 of the next 5 years.

Is his Development Manager role with us only part-time?
And how does he combine a pre-season with us, with coaching at Port?

Re: Round 6 v Adelaide
Hupfeld, Steele and Allan all named on the extended interchange bench, hopefully they are all dropped.
If so then hopefully Couroupis or Redfern are given a run through the midfield as well as K.Ryan. We simply need to make changes to our midfield.

Hupfeld will definitely be dropped as Delahunty is a direct replacement

Mattingly in for his first game after an ACL.

Good to see the selection of Ryan and Delahunty, belated though it is. But I still can't believe Couroupis isn't in our starting 18 ahead of Morrish, or that Gay isn't in the squad ahead of Steele.

Re: Round 6 v Adelaide
Better second half, good to see young Ryan kick a couple , Fletcher AND Marsden were good in the second half, but really you have to question the game plan. The style of football the coaching staff are trying to get them to play will not work with out a few above average players, the crows can play that game, kicking short, players running through to get the handball, when we do it, we come unstuck every time and course a turn over. We need to kick long to a position with crumbers waiting. Thats my opinion

Re: Round 6 v Adelaide
Yes, the second half was much better!
We actually won the second half but the damage was done.
Apart from the hit outs, the other stats were reasonably even but we lost by nearly 10 goals still which is disappointing.
Carmichael was very good again. 36 touches and 2 goals. Have heard an AFL club is very keen on him in the Mid Season Draft.
Brand was good again and Marslen is impressive up forward.
Kobe Ryan played well in his first game. He should have played from round 1!
We just have to try and play a few more kids in the back half of the year I guess.
Our game plan is terrible as most have said all year!!
The crowd was poor and there are a few regular Westies people not going to games anymore……

Re: Round 6 v Adelaide
I can't believe the difference is game plan between the reserves and league. Reserves plan fast moving ,down centre ,back up, help each other out .League slow moving, kick sideways, let team mate chase your player when they go into attack. While you just watch. Reserves coach more articulated when it comes to report on games.

Re: Round 6 v Adelaide
Carmichael is a really nice player and Ryan, as someone said, should have been playing earlier. Why we wasted a week playing him in the Reserves is beyond belief.
I wouldn't take much joy in our second half. 10 goals down at half time means the opposition don't have to keep up the intensity in the second half. Might soumd harsh, but it's a football fact.
Our percentage is now 270 points mire against than for after only 6 rounds. Worst I can remember.

Re: Round 6 v Adelaide
Carmichael very good, but he is the only midfielder we have, if he goes in the mid season draft god help us.
Ryan was moved onto the wing in the second half and he played very well. Why he played half forward in the first half is beyond me
How Hupfeld, Morrish and Allan get a game is bewildering.
ITS OBVIOUS OUR MIDFIELD IS VERY POOR, BUT WE CONTINUE TO PLAY THE SAME PLAYERS. Kennedy and Redfern both good in the ressies again time to promote them and play both in the midfield for the rest of the year. Redfern at least has pace.

Re: Round 6 v Adelaide
Ryan is a gun midfielder.
So they play him in a different position.
Have confidence in him, play him in the position he excels in.
