Team of characters
OK, a new concept.
Let's name a team of 'characters', good and not so good. They can be characters because they were so good, or because they weren't perhaps the best player, but were entertaining, or a favourite player, or someone unforgettable, even for the wrong reasons.
In proper SA tradition, we'll start with the forwards:
Full forward.
A few suggestions. E Bennetts, Team of the centuries player, rubbed out for a few years an alleged physical altercation with an umpire. Roger Luders, just because you wanted to watch him, Adam Richardson, tats and all, Dean Galea, haircut, Gary Sims, country star recruit.
The pockets can go to a rover and a tall, or anyone who doesn't fit a category otherwise. I think Jack Broadstock will make the team a bit later, Bertie Johnson a half-forward lock.

Re: Team of characters
Surely Neil Kerley would be top of that list? Jack Broadstock would be second to the 'King'.

Re: Team of characters
Yeh, perhaps we'll open it to all positions, then place them at the end.

Re: Team of characters
And Doug Thomas. A character on and off the field.
If my memory serves me correctly, he played full back before he went to coach Dimboola and full forward on his return to Westies. He used the dropkick when having a set shot for goal! It must be said he had mixed success with this approach. His 'droppies' were much more effective when he was playing full back when they used to regularly land in front of the grandstand at Richmond oval.

Re: Team of characters
A defence comprising Ray Hayes, Bruce Stevenson, Glenn Goss, Joe Humphries, Doug Thomas and Neville Miller would be pretty frightening.
