We have signed a big Key Forward which is a good sign.
From intel gained from a reliable poster Corbett played in 11 games and kicked 34 goals this year.
The kid is 21 and we need to give him time to develop, his fitness will also be a work in progress.
At least we now have improved our KPP Stocks with the signing of Brand and Corbett.
What we desperately need now is an experienced Ruckman and 3 very good Midfielders.

Lachlan --- fully agree in reference to Ruckman --- your thoughts on  2 good midfielders and another quality small forward

Or

2 good midfielders and another quality running backman with quality disposal and decision making willing to run forward and attack goals

Old Fella

Yes we need a running defender who kicks well amd makes good decisions.
Another Elliot Dunkin who will be very hard to replace.
We also need to replace Duval who was an excellent Intercept mark.

Yes!!
A good get by the club and some much needed positivity after the last month!! He will slot in nicely across half back,
Let’s hope he can get his body right and have a good season!!

That's the big question! I remember before he got drafted to the AFL ( can't say the word Port lol) he was injury prone. That said I would rather have him back than not. Will certainly help the young ones.

It's a big signing for the club, for morale as well as playing stocks.

Great news the club has signed Hamish. He’s going to be very important to us both on and off the field. It’s a good morale boost for the club.

Hartlett must ensure he gets his body right as we need him on the park for the majority of the year.

Hamish as a Development Officer will be an asset, but it shows the cost of recruiting. In this case, a worthwhile cost, though.

It's a step forward, but I now see two issues that I hope can be overcome with more recruiting.

1 We've lost 5 of perhaps our top 8 players. We've recruited 2 who will no doubt be in our top 3 or 4 now

2 No criticism of this, but of our top players now, at least 4 are 30 or older and we then have a lot of very young players, not much in between. Hopefully more recruiting can address this.

We certainly need a few more signings to help cover what we’ve lost.
We won 2 games this year and right now the squad still looks weaker than what it was prior to losing those players.

Our playing group obviously lacked quality this year and when you lose 4 of your top 8 players it makes it so difficult to cover them.
I agree that Hartlett and Brand are excellent recruits, the others are speculative. We need to give young Corbett, Gay,Welsh and Carmichael time to develop.
It’s true most of our top end talent is around 30.
What we need is players like Maguire, Meline, Redfern, Fejo, Gore and Chamberlain to take the next step. All of them need to have a very good pre-season.
Another forgotten player is young Couroupis who missed the majority of this year with injury and other issues. I really hope he is going on next year, he’s a talent and I believe a league player.

We then have U18’s in Ryan,Kennedy,Pridham, Lemmey,Steene,White
Thackeray,Young,Scully, and Satanek. Hopefully a couple can step up quickly.
In summary most of this is speculative so let’s hope some of this can come to fruition.

We desperately need to Recruit a Quality Ruckman and 2 Midfielders it’s so important as out stocks are limited in these areas.

Callum Park signs with West Adelaide

https://westadelaidefc.com.au/news/from-the-bays-to-the-bloods-callum-park-signs-with-west-adelaide/?fbclid=IwAR38dgCtrazJUj3jUqg9jj5mBCkjgvaAsYEQ8QCe1t34MgCadHJ3H4Glii4

The West Adelaide Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of young talented defender Callum Park from Glenelg.

At 20 years old, Callum is a quality young player with an incredible left foot and will be a great addition to the back half in 2022.

In his first season of senior football last year, Callum played 14 games for the Bays and then in 2021 played a further 8 matches.

Callum is excited to be joining the team he grew up supporting and although he is grateful for the opportunities he had at Glenelg, Park states there isn’t a club he would rather be at than the mighty Bloods.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity West Adelaide Football Club has presented me with. I grew up at the club watching my brother (Scott Bricknell) play 100 games over 10 years so it would be great to follow in his footsteps and to see the club and playing group rise up the ladder in 2022.”

Welcome to the Bloods Callum!

Good pick up.

I read this was likely on the Glenelg fan's site a few days ago. He hadn't cracked their team after the first 6 rounds or so, but I was impressed with him against us in Round 1. I suspect he might play in Duval's position, or similar.

The Glenelg fans also mentioned Scharenberg.

He's a beautiful kick and we need plenty more of them. Also played as a forward at underage level so might be some flexibility there.

Yes, and we need plenty more. This type of player is ideal - ready to go, but probably plenty of improvement as well. Glenelg owe us a couple, so Scharenberg would be a welcome addition. If Callum can become as good as his big brother that would be fantastic. Scott B was a gun across half back.
Fingers crossed for more good news.

Have Glenelg put out a statement about Callum leaving the Club that gave him his opportunity?

Bloods secure ruckman Darren Walters
https://westadelaidefc.com.au/news/bloods-secure-ruckman-darren-walters/

The West Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Darren Walters from VFL club Williamstown.

Darren is a 204cm ruckman who for the past 2 years has worked closely with ex West Adelaide & Williamstown coach Andy Collins. Darren’s key strengths include his ability to take contested marks around the ground and use the ball well by foot.

There was no question which club Darren wanted to join, “My family have always been West Adelaide supporters so growing up I always heard stories of the club and the great culture they have. So when they contacted me showing a high level of interest and confidence in my abilities, as well as a willingness to help me develop as a player, it was an easy decision.”

Please join us in welcoming Darren and his partner Danika to the West Adelaide Family.

I cannot find much information reference Darren Walters on the internet but this is probably because i am a poor internet user LOL.

I will say that for Andrew Collins to keep him around for 2 years speaks volumes based on my knowledge of Andy and his judgement.

Does anyone else have more information or knowledge about Darren Walters

I think Darren has been playing for Keilor in the Essendon League.

Gets a few hitouts, not many possessions, but is young and may have some upside.

If Collo recommended him, that is very encouraging.

He’s played very little footy over the past 2 years it seems due to COVID.
Lee is right he played for Keillor and being 204cms he’s going to take time to develop.
Ruckman don’t grow on trees so it’s worth investing in him.

Correct, Lachlan, perhaps similar to Frane Babic.

I think Darren played for another Essendon League team before that.
