Yes, no suggestion that we didn't need a ruckman, but that good midfielders reduced the damage of not having a dominant ruckman.

I think we need more recruiting to make up for our losses, so hopefully that will follow soon.

Wayne did say that there were about 80 players training last night.

We'll need to play all of them at the same time to beat the Eagles the way they're recruiting.

The Eagles seem to have perfected the art of recruiting delisted AFL players for $200 a game.

Reading the vibes on Parella it seems the club didn't exactly stand in his way.

More concerned with the loss of Taverner who was more of a 'palmer' of the ball than Parella.

Josh Gore
https://westadelaidefc.com.au/news/

In another exciting signing for the West Adelaide Football Club, we welcome speedy small forward Josh Gore.

The 19 year old has been in the Gold Coast Sun’s Academy from 2012-2020 and played representative football for the NEAFL and Allies.

Known for his strong left foot and goal sense, Josh was unlucky to miss out on being drafted after training with the Suns senior team and attending the state combine.

Football manager Wayne Siekman spoke about Josh saying, “As disappointing as it was not to see Josh’s named get read out on draft night, we are delighted that he has signed with the club.”

“He is a quality young man with some massive X factor which will no doubt excite the members and supporters in 2021.”

“His ability to find space and hit the scoreboard is of the highest order and will create headaches for opposition small defenders.”

Describing himself as having a team first mentality who is very motivated, Josh said, “I pride myself on creating opportunities by strong pressure in the forward line and most importantly converting those chances into goals.”

Josh was keen to get started at the club and said, “I believe the players staying put from last year, and the recent additions over the past couple of months creates an exciting team and one I’m very keen to be a part of.”

Welcome to the Bloods Josh!

Under the circumstances of a halved salary cap and consecutive wooden spoons, absolutely. Although I guess we won't really know until we see them in action.

That’s the same with every new recruit Aldo.

The level of professionalism this off season by our off ground team has really shown up what we have lacked for many years.

I also think the the Football Dept has done a good job with recruiting and time will tell if they can step up to the SANFL

I’m quietly confident that many of the players recruited will be of league standard.
I’m looking forward to 2021, as I’m sure most are!
I’m sure we will have a competitive side in 2021!

Let's not put too much expectation on some of these recruits.

I think we have recruited only 3 walk-up starts so far - Beechy, Lovell and Maguire, all very good players.

We've recruited several who may become good players and that's excellent, but most won't have a big impact next season.  Lads who miss being drafted will take time, especially when those drafted by the AFL teams generally also take time.

We have lost Willsmore and Parella, while Andre's back-up (Taverner) has also gone.  Babic's 'highlight' tape shows he will need time.

It will be good if we get one good player out of Redfern, Meline and other recruits, IMO.

Our biggest asset through pre-season will be the Coach, but our position reminds me of 2008 when Andrew Collins came.  He turned things around, but only won 2 games in his first year.  I think we'll do better than that, but let's be realistic.

As for recruiting comparisons. that should be left until well into next year.

Go the Bloods!

I think we all just want a team that is competitive!
Gone are the days where you can develop a side over 2 or 3 years in my opinion.
The AFL has made sure of that with its rookie, pre season and mid season drafts.
The reality is we could lose players throughout the season like we did with Noble and Snelling.

Our midfield will be better by far, our defence is sound enough, Beech will help up forward and I rate Ellem.

Our game plan will be more attacking and the players will enjoy playing.

Ruck is an obvious problem.

Let's hope for very few injuries.

I think no matter how you look at it, either as a positive or looking for negatives, most people would agree that we are looking so much better today than we were December 2019.

Lack of a quality ruckman is a concern but I’m sure they will continue to work hard on a outcome for that.

Well, yes, every new recruit who hasn't played at a higher level. If you recruited 4 or 5 players with extensive AFL experience you could, in advance, confidently say you'd recruited well. It looks like we've done well so far, apart from in the area of KPPs.
