We finally maybe be playing 3 talls in our forward line. Tilthorpe, Ellem and Keough. As for Hupfeld I have been saying all year he wouldn’t be in my side.
I hope Chamberlain gets an opportunity he was good last week in the ressies.

I'm excited about the possibility of having three marking forwards. I expect that we will lose comfortably, but will be interested to see what will happen if we get a healthy number of inside 50s. Irrespective of the outcome, we should maintain this structure for the remaining games. And if we get behind early please Gavin, don't send extra players into defence. The only way to wipe out a deficit is to score goals. South will be desperate to atone for their shock loss last week.
If Johnson plays deep, he could kick a bag if the opposition defenders aren't marking everything that comes their way.
Not a lot to be salvaged from a very poor season, but how good would it be to beat Norwood at the Parade in the final game, denying them the chance to play finals and handing the wooden spoon back to Centrals.

Absolute rubbish:
This is the worst team I have ever seen and we have had some bad ones over the years!!!
In 3 quarters we have 9 players with less than 10 possessions.
I have never seen so many players in one side who are not capable of playing SANFL football.
What an absolute joke

Re: West V South
My sentiments exactly Wolf Pack. That was utterly pathetic. An embarrassing lack of pressure on South in our back 50, an embarrassing lack of effort particularly in the last quarter which suggests a team not playing for the club or the coach. As soon as the opposition start shaking us off on the scoreboard and get a few goals up we basically turn our toes up because we know we can't score.
Lots of plodders in the midfield who are not only slow but who additionally don't chase when the opposition have it and who let their opponents run off them easily in their forward 50. As a team we look completely directionless.
I hope those calling for Cleeland to be selected enjoyed his game.
On a single positive note, Ellam looks like a player. He stands out in our side because he can mark and kick.

Re: West V South
To add to the positives, Isaac Johnson is a player and Brett Turner has had his best year at the club.
So this year:
League 1 win.
Reserves 2 wins.
Under 18s 1 win.
The question is, does our club have a future in the SANFL?
If salary caps are decreasing, how will we attract any players of genuine quality?
Those results are unbelievably bad!

Re: West V South
i left the game at about the 22 minute mark of the 3rd qtr when Wests kicked from the wing to our non existent forwards and 2 Souths defenders raffled the mark.

Spot on Lachlan, nothing has changed.
Its a road to nowhere and I dont see any green shoots for 2021 either.
I dont even bother watching these days as its just predictable what will unfold, much easier and less likely to spoil my mood. 10 goal losses appear to be the norm and we are MILES off finals, winning 5 games in a season would be a massive improvement and that is still garbage.

Re: West V South
Well we stayed in the game for 1&1/2 qtrs. After that it was all downhill. Again we played that stupid backwards/sideways game plan until the ball was intercepted by the opposition who then scored freely.
Is it the game plan or are the players too thick to follow instructions? Either way wholesale changes to personnel need be made. We seem incapable of scoring more than 8 goals a game. If south can beat us by 60 points in a canter what will the Eagles do to us next week. 100 point loss coming up looks likely.
We are up S##t Creek. Nothing in the reserves or under 18's.
I will go next week only as it is the last home game for the year to say goodbye for the season to my mates but that is it. After that I don't want to go near the place until we are at least competitive.

Apart from everything else that was so disappointing about this game I was particularly struck by the manner in which South players would just accelerate away from our players.

Re: West V South
There's no doubt we're down on talent and have injuries, but we haven't been this far off the pace since 2007.
We have little run and take a long time coming out if defence. At one stage we had six short kicks and marks, retreated 30 metres in total, got back to where we started and had to kick down the line to a huge pack. We continually kick short in defence and our vulnerability at defensive stoppages is alarming.
Our best football this year has seen us take the game on through the middle with run, dangerous but what do we have to lose?
Hamish Ellen is a plus. Nowhere near fit yet, but can kick beautifully from distance. Isaac Johnson has plenty of ability, but we have no depth after our top few players. I saw half a dozen young South players with huge talent and upside.
Again a very small crowd and many not so happy West fans.
Criticism at such a time needs to be constructive and taken in the right spirit. The Club is facing a crisis and members need to be communicated with meaningfully.
The game as a spectacle isn't great right now and it's getting harder to front up.
Let's hope the Club doesn't ignore the united thoughts if do many loyal and long-standing members.

Re: West V South
I thought Colville was a good appointment as coach.
But the alarm bells have to be ringing.
He is in his third year and we have gone backwards in a big way.
We won 8 games in his first year as coach.
I know he doesn’t have a lot to work with but the record is horrible.
As it stands, Gavin’s record is
11 wins
36 losses
1 draw.

Re: West V South
I think the 8 wins in Colville’s first year were misleading.
We won 4 games against the Crows and Port and at the time those sides represented more of an Ammo’s side than a SANFL side.
