RECRUITING Empty RECRUITING

Post by Lachlan Sat Aug 29, 2020 10:57 am

There are going to be a number of footballers looking for new clubs next year given the reduction of lists in the AFL, plus the Merging of the VFL and NEAFL.

WE SIMPLY NEED TO BE AIMING VERY HIGH WHEN SIGNING PLAYERS FOR NEXT YEAR.

WE MORE THAN ANY OTHER CLUB NEED TO BE RECRUITING PLAYERS NOW.

The work has already started we now have people in positions that will get the job done
Remember we did have a person there that did not do his job properly and who is no longer there

TOTALLY AGREE LACHLAN

Problem is we have aimed high and have not been a desirable package for top level players to commit to and they have gone to other clubs --- Lee has mentioned this several times.

Added to this while we are competitive in straight money terms we cannot provide jobs for player & partner from Sponsors compared with several of the top clubs.

How we overcome this I do not know.

I’m sick of the excuses the new Football Director and Football OPS Mgr need to get the job done. Recruiting is significant part of their job description.

BLACKY,

We can’t change the past, as a supporter a season member and a donator to the club I just want people in their roles to get things right.
As I stated previously there are no more excuses.

Lachlan is correct.
There are no excuses.
Get the quality recruits or close the doors.
5 or 6 players are required.
Every other SANFL team is capable of recruiting good players.
No one wants to watch a team that is an absolute rabble, week in week out.
Eventually supporters will find other things to do rather than waste time and money watching a team go nowhere.....

Sam Durdin - Ex Westies youngster has been delisted.
Would be worth looking at if he doesn’t get a life line....

Sam would be a big chance to return, I'd say.

I doubt he'd be picked up elsewhere.

WE keep hoping they will come back home but the history of that happening has been very poor over the last 10 years .

Durdin has struggled at AFL Level and I agree with Lee he won’t get picked up by another club. We need him back at our club

I am not sure I totally agree with you mate.

Most of the ex-westies kids returning that we missed did little at their new clubs.
