Doug
I have heard Doug Thomas is not travelling well right now.
Thoughts with him if that is so.
WAFC Legend.

Re: Doug
I first met Dougie as a kid kicking a footy with my Uncles in Grey Street, Adelaide ---- did not have a clue he was a West Adelaide Footballer until several years later he was just one of my Uncles mates.
From that beginnings Doug was always in some way part of my West Adelaide journey --- A scary dude when you crossed him but a generous and loving man to anyone he met --- I can tell so many stories of the love and comfort he gave especially to older members.
I loved this man (warts & all) and so did my late parents.
Now in the words I first used for my Father at his Funeral.
West Adelaide Hall of Fame Legend and Life Member Doug Thomas your present duties to the West Adelaide have ended now you take on new duties as part of the rich history and tradition of our great club.
RIP West Adelaide Hall of Fame Legend and Life Member Doug Thomas

Re: Doug
Doug always said hello & stopped for a chat at the Club & more importantly always spoke to my daughter & son as he watched them grow up from little tackers to adults over many years at Westies.
A true legend of West Adelaide & the SANFL.
Sadly missed. His heart & soul was truly with Westies.

Re: Doug
Spent just about every Saturday night of footy season from age of 5 - 18 in the clubrooms and hardly a week would go by when you didnt get a little clip on the back of the head for sitting on the back of the chairs!!! Never nasty, but Doug would always say hello and give you some of his time. Even going back as I got older and it might have been 12 months since I'd been after moving away, he would always say gday and make you feel welcome.
I was lucky enough to play U/17's and U/19's and he was always keen to know how we as a team and you as an individual went.
Always a Blood Doug, RIP

Re: Doug
That brings back memories, Bloodsaint.
The first time Doug spoke to my wife, Jenny, it was to tell her to stop leaning on the back of a chair! Oldfella and others will attest that Jenny is not a large woman and the chances of her doing any damage to a chair was non-existent.
She was gobsmacked. I just said to her 'that's Doug'.
Enough said.

Doug Thomas. What wonderful servant of the West Adelaide football. He was a wonderful person he was. Pleasure to meet him. Thank you Doug for everything. Would of liked to have a drink for him at club tonight for him. Now joins the Westies faithful that can watch the mighty Bloods from Grandstand in the sky. RIP Doug
