Re: Quiz
I used to call Jarrod Sylvester..The Cat. One of my favourite players although only stayed for one season.
Players from Port?
There were quite a few that came with Fos Williams,
Boston,
Beswick,
Hayes,
Grimwood..
Belton
There's one player that came later, I can't remember his name, but they called him the ice man.

Neville Thiele, Michael & Peter Broderick, Scott Hahn.
There was a ruckman that played the season before Collo took over but I can’t remember his name. His nickname was the Reverend. I think it was Jeremy Jacques.

Re: Quiz
Michael Tomeo was another that came from Port when Michael Taylor was coaching. Due to injuries Michael Tomeo only played a couple of league games.
I think we also had an aboriginal player in the twilight of his career transfer to us from Port. One of Doug’s signings. I can’t recall the name may have been Ross Agius but I am not sure on that one.

Re: Quiz
Which end did Paul Patterson kick a goal in his last and 200th game?
How far out was the mark?
In a game at Glenelg, the half-back line players were dominant in the air and were voted 1st, 2nd and 3rd best for us that day. Tim Symes was CHB, who were the flankers?
What numbers did Jack Lynch, Ken Eustice and Ken Eglinton wear?
Which player came off Adelaide Oval in the 2012 final after taking a courageous mark in the last quarter? Harder, who kicked the goal when he couldn't take his kick (I don't know that answer!).
Which ruckman played for us, Edwardstown and was drafted to the AFL?

Correct, aldo. I think he was only on for a short time, to get him his 200th. Took a great hanger in the goal square.

Just a thought Lee,
You could have 50,000 words of your book done by now if you weren't chatting on the forum all weekend.
Great stuff, keep it up.

Re: Quiz
This is just a general question that I'm looking for the answer!
In Bloods Sweat & Tears the yearly wrap up of 1983 list all players that played that year. Interestingly it lists some players having played 25 games for the year?? Given we were minor premiers and only played 2 finals we would've only played 24 games. Does it include Escort Cup as it was back then?
Also were listed as playing 31 players that year, obviously the 20 that played in the Premiership, plus Mark Beech, Clayton Lamb, Steve Rechner, Mark Mickan, Roger Winter, Grant Porter, Graeme Hyde, Randall Wright, John Falting and the last two I'm not 100% on D Grosser - I'm thinking it was darren and the last one a P Collins that I can't recall at all.
Anyone help??

Re: Quiz
Yes, D.Grosser was Darren Grosser.
P.Collins was Phil (I'm pretty sure) Collins, a rover we recruited from South Adelaide.
Could the 25th game have been a night competition game?

Re: Quiz
What was interesting from that was Porter, Hyde, Wright, Grosser & Collins all only played 1 game.
Falting 4 I think it was, Rechner only a couple and Lamb a handful.
So basically our squad for the whole year was the 20 that played, plus Rubbers, Roger Winter & Mark Beech.
We had a bloody good run with injury other than Rubbers breaking his leg. Robbie McKinnon missed some footy with 2 broken jaws and Fielks with a broken arm

Re: Quiz
John Falting could have played a lot more League footy at another club. Pretty stiff coming to us when we had Luders, Lindner, Smith and Morris.

I agree with you about John Falting. We could certainly you a forward like him in our side right now.

Very good footballer who also played with Geelong I think. Sadly died as a result of a fight outside a hotel in Tasmania.
He came across about the same time as two other Tassie players, Wayne Ling and David Morgan. Always thought Morgan should have played a lot more senior footy for us.

Reminder:
In a game at Glenelg, the half-back line players were dominant in the air and were voted 1st, 2nd and 3rd best for us that day. Tim Symes was CHB, who were the flankers?
Clue: Both names ended in 'es'.
What numbers did Jack Lynch, Ken Eustice and Ken Eglinton wear?
Clue: Pretty sure they were consecutive numbers.
Which player came off Adelaide Oval in the 2012 final after taking a courageous mark in the last quarter? Harder, who kicked the goal when he couldn't take his kick (I don't know that answer!).
Clue: Won a B & F with us.
Which ruckman played for us, Edwardstown and was drafted to the AFL?

Re: Quiz
Lachlan & Aldo I have a different view of John Falting.
He arrived at Westies before Lindner & Smith & Geoff Morris would still have even playing on a wing then. He had plenty of opportunities to establish himself on a half forward flank. He played 72 league games over 8 seasons so he was given numerous chances to establish a regular spot but just couldn’t do so. Jack Cahill even gave him the opportunity to reinvent himself as a defender in 1986 but that didn’t work out for him sadly.
Don’t get me wrong, I think John was a good servant of the Club & I always enjoyed watching him play in the reserves. I always wished that he would crack it in the league. He had a booming kick.
I will always remember him as an outstanding reserves player who for whatever reason just couldn’t perform at the same level in the league.
But as Lachlan said, would love to have him in today’s league side.
Hope I am not too harsh on him.
