Recruiting
The Club has announced the signings of more of our regular players.
I'm hearing we're going flat out to get good recruits to replace what we've lost, but it seems almost all our 'required'
players are re-signing.
PLAYER SIGNINGS
8/11/2013 3:22:40 PM
The West Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce three more signings for 2014!
Daniel Caire, a courageous midfielder who represented West in the State Squad in both 2012 & 2013. Daniel has played 159 games for the Bloods and it set to play his 150th at League level in Round 1 next year.
Nick Homburg, the 2013 Reserves Magarey Medalist. Nick, a wingman, has played 113 games for the Bloods and is sure to provide excitement next season.
Tom Keough, a promising key forward. After making his League debut late in 2012, Tom has gone on to play majority of season 2013 in the League side.
We look forward to watching these players develop in season 2014!

Re: Recruiting
The West Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Richard Newell!
Richard is originally from Sydney where he started playing football as a six year old.
Richard Newell is an athletic run-with player who has shown with both the Brisbane Lions Reserves and Queensland U18s that he can shut down his opponent and get the plenty of the ball himself. He is also an elite endurance runner who has represented his State in middle distance events.
Richard’s talents were quickly identified by the Brisbane Lions, and he was promptly signed by the Club as a NSW/ACT Scholarship Player as a 15 year-old back in 2008.
He played a key midfield/tagger role with the Lions Reserves and earned an NEAFL Rising Star nomination in Round 4.
While at Brisbane, Richard blitzed the fitness testing results beating Shaun Hart’s long standing 3km time trial record.
Richard was drafted by Brisbane at the 2011 AFL Rookie Draft and had his first taste of senior football for the Brisbane Lions during the 2013 NAB Cup competition.
We are extremely excited to sign Richard and look forward to seeing him wearing the red and black in season 2014.

Re: Recruiting
Some positive news which is great for the club and us members.
I really hope this kid can play good consistent SANFL footy
Well done to the recruiting committee. However we still need to sign
1. A Quality key Forward
2. Another Inside Mid
3. Two key defenders
We have lost real quality players in the off season. Therefore the recruiting committee need to deliver.
They have taken a small step with the signing of young Newell

With the club losing a couple of key defenders I would like to think we are close to signing a couple of quality tall defenders very shortly

Re: Recruiting
The West Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of senior players Adam Hartlett and Taite Silverlock.
Adam has been back with us from Carlton now since 2010. Unfortunately he has suffered a few injuries and had a frustrating year in 2013 after quite a consistent season in 2012. Adam provides great leadership and with the loss of Ryan Ferguson and Brad Mangan he will help to strengthen our back line.
Taite Silverlock demonstrated his talent last season winning the mark of the year. Taite has been working really hard in aiming to play more of a mid-field role in 2014. His kicking and marking are great assets. Taite’s experience at Essendon has also been great in helping the younger players and he is a great role model to them.
It is great to have both Adam and Taite back on board with the Bloods!

Re: Recruiting
Good to see these guys signing on again. Taite needs a break out yr. and playing in the midfield is going to be important to him
Hartlett needs to play a full yr without suspension and injury
Hope we can recruit a key forward and key defenders for next yr. we need them
