Re: Assistant Coaches
I don't thibnk there is, Jamo.
There is no way Ben (or anyone else) would have been promised the League job. I'm sure ben would have been able to continue as Reserves coach (where he's done a great job) if he'd wanted to, but I think he decided, after talking it through, that getting experience away from Westies would be better for his coaching CV.

Re: Assistant Coaches
From the club email
The West Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce the following coaching appointments for 2014.
Reserves Coach – Shane Pill. Shane has been an assistant coach with the under 18’s for the past two years. He is the Head of Physical Education at Flinders University and played league football for West Torrens and East Fremantle (WAFL). Shane has a significant background in coaching and is the author of two respected books on the topic of coaching. Shane’s coaching background has included junior and senior roles in both Adelaide and Perth, where he was also a recruiter for the Adelaide Football Club. Shane is also well recognised for his academic background in Sport and Education and has presented at various coaching conferences around Australia for the SANFL and the AFL. Shane is a father of 3 sons and has great support from wife Kate. We wish Shane all the best for the coming season.
Under 18’s Coach – Jarrod Meers. This is Jarrod’s third year as the under 18 coach at West Adelaide. He has a great reputation of developing young footballers and young men. Last year Jarrod was successful in completing his High Performance coaching certificate – Level 3 with the AFL. Jarrod’s wife Kym and two daughters are great supporters and regularly attend under 18 games to cheer on our boys. No doubt under Jarrod’s fine leadership we look forward to another fantastic season of development for our under 18 side.
Under 16’s Coach – Glen Little. Glen has been involved in programs at WAFC for the last 4 years. He has been part of our Elite Development Program and has been an assistant coach in the under 18 program for the past two years. Glen played football in Mount Gambier and Edwardstown. Glen is a Senior Teacher at Blackwood High and has helped to relocate a number of our country players by finding them places at Blackwood High. He has also been successful in introducing the football program at Blackwood. Glen is married to Amber and has a young daughter. Glen is a level two coach and last week received a service award from the AFL and SANFL.
Glen has taken over from Damian Salievic, who after 2 great years coaching our U16’s, has returned to Blackwood Football Club as their Senior Coach. We thank Damian for his commitment and wish him all the best in his campaign to win the premiership at Wood’s.
Congratulations to all our coaches and we wish you all the best for season 2014. Please stay tuned for future announcements regarding assist coaches.
