Where is our Captain he has vanished off the face of the earth.
Not in the selected team. Not in the “Outs”.
A terrible start to the year with suspensions & injury to key players. Now Beech, Webb, McPherson, Agostino All injured, will b lucky to see Rankine
till mid year due to AIS & U18 nationals & Wasley-Black will b underdone when his time comes.
Upside is Porps is having a run in the twos.

It’s all about effort and intensity around the contest this week.
Players need to defend the ground.
Let’s hope we have a real crack this week.
Good to have Stevens back in the side.
He is our best player in my opinion.

I don't disagree with any of the omissions but, on paper, that is one of the weakest sides we have put out in many years in my opinion. Let's hope we get a massive attitude (and form) reversal.
Also worth noting that not one of this year's recruits is currently playing in the seniors.

Re: West v Central
Keough will definitely play in the midfield this week as he did in the second half last week.
Since the Premiership win in 2015 we have lost Schmidt,Tuck,Snelling and Porps hasn't played from our midfield group, they haven't been replaced.

Very interesting last line Aldo. Been saying for years our recruiting committee has been about as successful as the teamaldo russian wrote:I don't disagree with any of the omissions but, on paper, that is one of the weakest sides we have put out in many years in my opinion. Re: West v Central
Does that include our premiership 2 years ago?
To address the question, though, and it is a fair question, the facts are:
4 yrars ago we were close to shutting the doors. Board members and supporters put funds in and saved the club. The club's future is now guarsnteed.
We were making huge losses. We are now profitable.
The SANFL are also assisting with some funding apart from this, but restrict our salary cap and include transfer fees in our cap.
This makes it almost impossible to match other clubs' offers.
Last year with a restricted cap, we recruited Kake Wilson and Tom Keough. This year, Jonno Beech.
Our number one aim for this year is to work towards not having ro accept SANFL funding and to have a full salary cap.
IMO only, this is a must.
What can all here do? Eat and drink at the club. Simple as that. That is the best thing to achieve our aim.
Otherwise, you're leaving it all to others for the sake of not socialising at your club.
We have to recruit strongly. I agree, so help us be able to do it.

Never in doubt lol
Not at game but based on stats
Westies dominated the second half and if a few of the multiple points were goals would have flogged them
Any win at elizabeth is huge --- a real home ground advantage this oval
Who had wind in first quarter
Interesting to note that at quater time frees were 7 central to 1 westies ---- was this due to bad play by westies or did we have the famed 3 blind mice again

Hard to argue that attitude is paramount
Congratulations to all concerned. An absolute essential win which has restored hope. If we were a racehorse, we'd be swabbed.

Re: West v Central
What a fantastic turnaround. Even when we were trailing the effort was still there and they maintained it all day.
Dustin Head's two strong, gutsy marks in the last quarter were inspiring.
Noonan had a very good debut.
Waite had a good game, particularly the first quarter.
Pillion, apart from one clanger, did quite a few very creative things. He looks to have a good footy brain and I reckon is worth persevering with.
And I thought Noble, Keough and Burgess were our top three.
So rapt for the coach and players that they could bounce back after we all expressed our disappointment with last week.
We still can't kick though.

I thought we had lost it when we kicked 2.8 in the 3Q but it turned out that was the winning Q.

Agree, didnt make the most of our chances, thought that was going to come back to haunt us in the last quarter (thankfully Butcher and Presbury missed 2 set shots in the final quarter for Centrals) so the footy gods were obviously on our side today!
That said, we have scored a combined 10.27 over the past 2 weeks, need to tidy up our goal kicking.

Re: West v Central
I was very critical of our performance last week for obvious reasons.
Today's win was based on old fashioned commitment for the contest.
At half time I was very concerned, however our last half was full of merit.
Keough playing in the midfield was our best player and He will play their for the rest
of the year.
Burgess found plenty of the footy and his marking and kicking were very good.
Noble will continue to get better and better and I thought Batley,Schiller and Anderson were also good for us.
Green needs to play forward.
Good to see Porps get through 3qrts in the ressies this week.
Selection will be interesting next week with Beech,Webb,Agostino,Hopefully back from injury and Rankine and Porps.
We dominated the second half and we should have WON by more as our ball use going inside 50 wasn't good.
Secondly we missed many easy shots at goal all day. If we had Beech and Porps up Forward we would have won by more.
I would love to see Keough rotate through the forward line when he needs a rest from the midfield, he would be hard to match up on.
I thought,Noonan,Piilon and Ryan had their moments as well.
Congrats to the coach on his first win and well done to the 21 players who had a 'fair dinkum'
crack for 4qrts.

Well done to the boys today. Hard to know how you could win up north after playing so badly last week. Hope Fielkes is ok.

Re: West v Central
Should also mention McPherson who I think did a pretty good job, particularly in the first half.
With maybe Beech, Agostino and Rankine to come in, a win against South would suddenly give us some real hope for the season.
