Very sad to advise that Don Jamieson passed away yesterday.

Don and his family have been part of our club for decades and we will all miss Don.

On a personal note, I spent many years as a fellow trainer with Don and we shared lots of laughs and fellowship.

My condolences to Geoff, Luke and all the family.

Another top quality bloke lost to the club -- if one wanted to know how a westies supporter should act and treat other supporters then one only had to copy his example --- always friendly, always supportive and had endless tales of our clubs history and tradion.

My personal sympathies to his family and especially young Jammo our club historian and reserves time keeper

RIP mate

There's something particularly horrible about reading of the death of a player from your childhood. Lee Ravlich was a very talented player. This is a link to 9 minutes of highlights from our 1976 Elimination Final match against Norwood, our first final for seven years. Ravlich kicks a great checkside goal at about the 1.15 minute mark.

Another really good young man lost far too soon from the Bloods family.

My sincere condolences to Christine & the kids.

Christine has been such a massive support to Mark during his troubled times. He talked about her all the time.

Sometimes we all have a whinge & a grizzle about stuff that doesn’t really matter in the scheme of things. This puts it all into some sort of perspective doesn’t it.

I was honoured to have Mark include my Grand Mother and my Father's Names in the History of the West Adelaide Football Club as the Land on which the Club was built was owned by both of them. I send my Condolences to The West Adelaide Football Club and to Mark's Family at this sad Time

It is with great sadness that the West Adelaide Football Club advises members and the wider SANFL community of the passing of Life Member, Mark Beswick.

Mark’s passion for, and commitment to, SANFL football was all-encompassing. Always a passionate Blood’s supporter, Mark was also the official SANFL historian. His unparalleled work for our club and the SANFL as historian and statistical guru was invaluable and his enthusiasm and love of our game was always obvious in the way he approached everything he did.

His father Kevin played over 100 games for West Adelaide and captained the club.
.
It is not possible to do justice to the contribution Mark has given to West Adelaide. In so many ways, Mark was the first port of call for so many of the answers football clubs need on a day-to-day basis and he always responded with enthusiasm, accuracy and pride. The SANFL states “his contribution to the history of the competition through his database collection and his commitment to its protection and succession will have a lasting benefit to the League”.

More than statistics and history, though, we knew Mark as a good man. He was totally respected and always brought a smile and a passion, even at the most difficult of times. Along with his wife Christine, Mark attended our Season Launch only little more than a week ago. He was also instrumental in assisting with the selection of our Team of the Centuries and very much wanted to attend the announcement. We will all attend for him.

He will be sadly missed and our thoughts are very much with Christine, his children and family.
i find this very strange that this is on talking footy but not on this site
one great person of the club
and no comment from certain people close to the club
VALE Mark
