West vs Port
WEST
West Adelaide has boosted its scoring power after regaining Shannon Green for the clash with Port at City Mazda Stadium on Saturday.
Accepting a three-match ban from the SANFL Incident Review Panel for engaging in rough conduct in Round 10, Green will be fresh and eager to make an impact after being named in the forward pocket.
Green has been joined in the Bloods’ 23-man squad by former Richmond utility Brad Helbig, goalsneak John Noble and possible debutants Josh Ryan and Jack Evans.
Ryan – originally from Mildura – is looming as a replacement for key defender Adam Hartlett, who has been sidelined by a calf injury.
Evans – from Flagstaff Hill – has been named numerous times on the extended interchange only to be trimmed before the bounce.
Former Essendon rookie Tyson Slattery has been sidelined by a hamstring strain while Kenneth Karpany has been sent back to the Reserves.
Midfielder Kaine Stevens will play his 50th IGA League match.

Re: West vs Port
As a Bloods supporter it would have been perfectly understandable to have left this game at Q time, so inept was our effort to that point. If you had stayed to the end you would have frozen your nuts off and seen us smashed to the tune of 69 pts. Final score Port Power Reserves 19.15 to Westies, a miserable 7.14.
Port Power Reserves kicked 7 goals in the last Q. Some bloke called Reynolds (No 10) kicked 8. The only small ray of sunshine in this forgettable day of footy was our Reserves winning 12.4 to 8.11.
Young John Noble came into the senior side, kicked 2 goals and played well. One useless piece of trivia is that Chris Burgess has kicked a goal with every kick he has had in the past 2 games. Total goals scored in that time – 1. Mind you he is far from our worst player. He has nice balance and useful height and shows some promise.
Daniel Webb was pretty much a lone hand in the ruck and was close to our best player for his consistency over the full game. Murray Waite continues to improve each week as he gets more of the ball.
O’Brien got plenty of touches but few of them creative or productive. Stubbs had a poor game, his second in a row. Defying his great 2016 form Stevens didn’t do much in his 50th game for the club. Too many of our players are getting a game because of their 2015 form and because there is simply no-one to replace them.
We continue to gift the ball to the opposition through poor decision making. Instructions seem to be to play on and give off the instinctive handball at every opportunity to the closest player even if they are flat footed or closely checked (usually both). Their zone hurt us badly and we had only 2 goals on the board at half time. We had a productive burst in the third Q when we kicked 4 in quick time but capitulated in the last when PPR kicked 7 to our 1 in a very disappointing final effort, our lack of fitness again showing out.
Looking forward to next week’s bye.

Re: West vs Port
Simply not good enough.
We have one Quality Key Position Player playing at present
and that is Mason Middleton. The only other KPP would be Hartlett.
You cannot expect to win matches when you have a lack of genuine
classy talls.
The club as a Priority must recruit 3 Quality Key Position Players for 2017.
Anything less is unacceptable.

Re: West vs Port
We are an absolute rabble.
Skills are non existent.
The interest on this forum reflects the performance on field.
Given the demise of our competition and the lack of finances, recruiting good players will be tough ( and we need plenty!!!)
There is no talent coming through, although some may say otherwise!!
Looks like 2015 was a flash in the pan.
We are the only team in the competition that is non competitive.

Re: West vs Port
You're right, we will need to recruit strongly.
That is already our top priority. We will have the money & cap space to do that.
As for today, Mark made it clear at presentations that the last quarter was just unacceptable and the players know that.

But being down by 6 goals at half time was acceptable??
I just can't stomach the complete lack of endeavour and I can't listen to MM any more.

The whole season is unacceptable, half time, full time or whatever.
We all hurt the same with what's happened. We have to make sure it doesn't happen again.
