West vs Eagles
West Adelaide could take an unchanged line-up into Saturday’s clash with the Eagles at Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval.
Bloods coach Mark Mickan has added two players to his five-man extended interchange bench but they won’t necessarily survive the cut.
Former Richmond backman Brad Helbig and emerging defender Brett Turner both performed strongly in the Reserves last round.
Helbig racked up 25 disposals, eight marks and six clearances while Turner, who made his IGA League debut earlier this year, finished with 27 disposals, six marks and 11 clearances.

Re: West vs Eagles
Don't think we can realistically win this one.
The bookies agree:
West $8.00
Eagles $1.06

Re: West vs Eagles
A comprehensive but expected belting.
We were lucky not to lose by 100 considering the Eagles dominance.
56 to 20 inside 50s.
We are going to run out of players.
Fielke, Hartlett, Slattery all injured.
Daniel Webb was our best in my opinion.
We won a premiership last year.
This year we most likely win the spoon. If we do, our 5th spoon in the last 11 seasons....

This season has been a disaster, thank God we just fell over the line in 2 games or it would have been a total embarrassment.

Re: West vs Eagles
This game at Woodville oval, the second placed Eagles up against the bottom team was always going to be a test for the Bloods. Only 12 of our GF team remained. It began badly with Fielke withdrawing with a right calf problem and being replaced by Brett Turner who had just played a full game in the Ressies. Adam Hartlett then had a massive brain fade, was reported and conceded another goal without the ball going back to the middle. He then injured himself up the other end, possibly an ankle and didn’t return to the field. Slattery, who was helping out in ruck had also left the field and spent most of the game on the bench.
While all this was unfolding the Eagles were systematically destroying us with their hard running, strong tackling and skilful style of footy. Q by Q they took us apart: 4 gls to 1 in the first then 7 to 4, 5 to 2 and finally 3 to 1. Final score 19.12 to 8.2.
That’s 31 shots to 10. They went inside 50 56 times to our 20. Of the top ten possession gatherers on the ground only 2 were from the Bloods. 5 of our players had a total of 5 kicks! And Petrenko and Ainger didn’t play for them.
We had no flexibility as our rotations were so badly restricted. We continued to tough the game out against the odds and never gave up and we were still trying things and running hard to the end but we were simply outclassed and making too many mistakes.
Schmidt was a standout for us. Probably our only winner. Caire and Stevens did well. Webb rucked gamely against the giant 202cm Redden as well as Bornholm. It might be an idea to send young Karpany back to the Ressies for a while.Turner and or Helbig could come in. We’ll lose Hartlett for a few games.
All up a pretty forgettable day out.

No mention of Middleton B&R.
Third really good game straight. His clean marking has been impressive considering limited opportunities up forward.

With 12 premiership players, plus Agostino and Hardy, and recruits O'Brien and Stubbs, we should not be suffering our biggest loss of the year.
I'm still not buying the line that this year's collapse is mainly due to the players we lost, or that that was a problem we couldn't overcome. Sturt lost more key players than us and have come from outside the five to be near the top of the ladder.
It's very concerning that everyone is trying so hard to improve our performances with little success.
