Top 3
Regardless of tomorrow's result, we'll finish top 3 and play Port in the Qual Final.
Let's beat them tomorrow anyway.

Re: Top 3
I caught the last quarter at the Parade on my way home.
Excellent standard of play. Norwood were unlucky to lose. The last quarter saw 3 shots missed, 2 dropped marks inside 50, and a screamer from a 50+m kick from the wing to ~35 out from goal not paid....touched off the boot!
Congrats to Central.

Re: Top 3
It will be 2 entirely different Port sides tomorrow & next week in the Qual final.
Port will be loaded up with AFL listed players tomorrow while I believe they can only play 12 in the finals due to the SANFL qualification regulations. These were modified after last years finals.
I hope we don't give too much away tomorrow & don't take any risks with sore or sick players. Why bother!!

Agree with you Mypaspective - But for those reading > As a board member I have absolutely no knowledge or input into selection... The team that do that have done a wonderful job and deserve lots of credit for turning us around so quickly.

I'll try to check this out further but I can't recall, at least in my time following Westies, a bigger climb up the ladder by us in one season. Even the climb in '83 from 6th to 1st was 'only' five places, but I can't recall us improving six places (9th to 3rd) or seven places (9th to 2nd) if we win tomorrow.

Its a dead rubber. A game where each team will be studying the other and being careful for the following finals game where the outcome really matters. A game where, as a spectator/supporter, we'll probably be seeing something quite different. Certainly without any tension that commonly goes with a last minor round game.
If finals (except grand final) were played at home grounds however, we would be playing for home ground advantage in the Qual Final. Now thats something I could get into, and would make a lot more people go to see the game today...me thinks.
Go Bloods !

'I hope we don't give too much away tomorrow'
'Its a dead rubber'
We got smashed by South and smashed Norwood. I hope we never go into a game thinking the game doesn't count. We should be trying to belt Port.
And as for not giving away too much. That sounds like some stupid trick that Collins tried and failed on a couple of occasions.

Spellcheck on TFSA has confirmed that this is our biggest move up the ladder from one season to the next in the club's history.

Re: Top 3
Port looked really good today.
They seem to have our measure and we need to lift have a chance next week.
Lol at the Power supporters coming out of the wood work!!!!
I never knew an on field coach was allowed..........
Eugene Warrior should be fined and banned!!!!
What a joke

Re: Top 3
Francis very sick (off for a half), Tucky off with a corky (should be ok for next week according to both him & our doctor) meant we had a restricted interchange bench for the last half. Plus Schmidty was quite crook with the flew & we rested Hartlett, Fielke & Snelling.
In addition we didn't show any of our cards with tagging key playmakers such as Mitchell & Summerton so next week will be different I'm sure.
Don't forget they won't have the same side either due to qualifying conditions.
We can beat them with our full side fit & healthy. The gap isn't that great.

I think they can add Butcher, Amon and Frampton.
They could be stronger next week.........

Re: Top 3
I wouldn't read too much into today. Port were too good, but we played most of the game with no rotations or tactics to negate Port.
Port will still be strong next week, but Hartlett, Snelling and Fielke will make us stronger, too.
I thought Hugh Haysman was very good today and Josh Schiller was terrific.
I fancy our chances next week.

Are Port restricted to a maximum of 12 AFL players in their side for the finals?

Re: Top 3
No.
Their players have to have played more SANFL than AFL and have played at least 3 games since June 30th.

Re: Top 3
What a farce.
They will have 16 or 17 AFL players next week.
Their AFL midfield in Mitchell, Moore and Stewart had 90 touches and 3 goals between them today!!!!

Re: Top 3
Every Magpies player has met the SANFL finals criteria and will be free to play.
