WEST v Port
Thoughts.
At 0-3 do we make big changes or hope for the best.
Does Harts come straight in or does he have 1 week in the reserves.
The backline to me seems to be doing well.
The problem is the midfield.
Still and Bricknell and Greeny to come in. Hopefully Tuck is ok.
Tom Schott is also one with talent. Quick and hard at it.
Go bloods.

Re: WEST v Port
Hartlett straight in. He should be pretty fit, not coming back from an injury.
Agree with the other ins. We need all our experienced players to step up this week i.e Silverlock, Fielke, Beech, Macreadie and Fisher.
They have all been down on what they are capable of in the first three weeks.
Schmidt, Keough, Middleton are the only three who have played well in the first three weeks......

Re: WEST v Port
It's a lack of scoreboard pressure that has been the major issue.
Beech,Fielke,Silverlock and MacReadie have been goal kickers in the past. They have had little impact in this area. Time for All of these guys to spend more time up forward. I like Beech in the midfield but he has spent but He has had PRESSURE LITTLE TIME UP. FORWARD.WHICH IS WRONG.
THE SAME for he others I. Have mentioned.
Hopton,Gallard and Wong have played all up forward. They aren't league players yet. Bricknell and Still should have played against North. still us a Goalkicker and With Bricknell through the midfield is would have allowed Beech to spend more time forward
We are trying to play a more attacking style however you need the forward line players to finish off.maybe Keough does play forward this week

My team against Port
FF Webb MiddletonFielke
HF Silverlock,Keough Beech
C Bricknell Schmidt Newell
HB Ezard Milne Anderson
FB Green Hayes Hartlett
1stRNelson Tuck MacReadie
Int Stevens,Fisher Dijksman
In Tuck,Green,Bricknell,Hartlett
Out Gallard ,Hopton,Wong,Schiller
Another thought would be to leave Nelson out and promote Still which means Webb and Middleton to share ruck duties. However I think Webby is still underdone and that's why I have kept Nelson in.
I have started Green in a back pocket instead of his normal role at half back as he is also underdone and he won't run as much in a back pocket
I think Keough is a better CHF than Hartlett and that's why he starts there. Hayes also at FB as Hartlett is better suited from the back pocket where he can add some rebound which Hayes didn't do against North.
Lastly maybe Hayes gets dropped with Keough back to FB,Middleton at CFH and Still at FF. It would mean though 5 changes that's all.

Re: WEST v Port
I reckon Harts will have a run in the seconds. Port will be coming off a 5 day break

We can't afford to give Hartlett a run in the seconds, if we lose this week, 2014 is done.....
I think we will cop an absolute hiding against The Power Reserves.

Where do you play him and who misses out.

Re: WEST v Port
Hartlett should play CHB I think.
Not sure about Hayes, should he be forward or back??
We need a forward to kick a few, maybe Keough back to the forward line?
Really like the way he goes

ST
See my previous thread regarding my team against Port. Hopton to be dropped and Hartlett in and he moves into to defence with Keough moving up forward.
You could also promote Still with Middleton moving to CHF. This would mean Hartlett to the Back pocket to provide some rebound and that means Hayes gets dropped as he provided very little run from the back pocket against North.
Keough would therefore remain at FB

Re: WEST v Port
I think I would bring Still in and leave the backline alone. Give Harts one week in the reserves to get him match fit and drop a midfielder or two.

Should be interesting at the selection table as we play in the Foxtel Cup on Tuesday night

Re: WEST v Port
Hartletts fitness shouldn't be a problem he has done more pre season work that a lot of others in the side plus he played all of our trial games.
Let's not forget also we have 9 days between games and the feral back stabbers have 5.

My final side against Port
FF Webb. Still Fielke
HF SIlverlock Middleton Beech
C Bricknell Schmidt Newell
HB Ezard Milne Anderson
FB Green Keough Hartlett
1st R Nelson,Tuck MacReadie
Int Stevens Fisher Dijksman
In Bricknell,Hartlett,Green,Tuck,Still
Out Hayes,Schiller Gallard,Hopton,Wong
I have left Hayes out as I think we would be too top heavy if he played
I have Bricknell on the wing as he he finds plenty of the ball.
You can rotate Anderson,Ezard,Fisher,Newell and Bricknell between wing and Half back any way

Re: WEST v Port
Power Reserves give the Eagles a ten goal hiding at Woodville.
On our current form we would be lucky to get within 10 goals next Saturday at Alberton!!!!

Re: WEST v Port
Scary to see Port Smash the Eagles by that much.
They had 34 scoring shots to 11.
There is worrying signs in the SANFL. We can only hope Ports AFL side get some injuries

Re: WEST v Port
Yep huge worry. Ports clearance work was superb today. That has been one of our major weaknesses over the last few weeks (except Schmidt).
The power play on Sunday so hopefully they will hold Mitchell and a few others back.
Hartlett to play in the 2s. Needs to realise that he can't be gifted games and if he does something stupid to get suspended that he's not rewarded with a league game straight away.
Still, Bricknell and Tuck in for Schiller, Gallard and Wong IMO. Green needs another week I reckon.

Re: WEST v Port
I hear what you are saying re. Hartlett, but we need our best players out there.
We are 0-3, if we go 0-4 then we are done for the year I think.
Hartlett needs to come in and lead from the front.

Re: WEST v Port
Expect a +8 goal loss.
Hartlett is a great example as to why we should expect to get hammered.
A semi professional player who is not match fit who is about to play professional footballers who have been through an elite preparation for months.
Unfortunately the only way he will have an influence on this game is if he does what he has done so often in the past ie be aggressive OFF THE BALL.

Re: WEST v Port
I am not going to Alberton - They shouldnt be in the competition and I'm not having my attendance counted for these pricks nor any of my money going into their bar to fund their 3 year old club.
If we dont become more attacking and continue using this crap handball game where none of our midfielders push hard into the forward line nor our half-back flankers run hard to create movement through the midfield linking past centre wing and become valuable options that can press the ball in our forward line then we could lose by 90+
The other worry is having more umpiring like we have endured with a team that had all but 4 players with AFL experience as they did against WWT (Biemans, Bruggeman, Summerton and Young haven't played AFL or been on a list - Well done directors of the SANFL 2013 - You should have listened to us supporters!)
I want to be very wrong

Re: WEST v Port
I'll be back on Thursday and I'll be at Alberton no matter what. If Westies are playing, I'll be there.
We're three games in.
I do think our pre-season was compromised by long-term injuries and absences and I'm sure Mark Mickan would have liked a full list to start with. The reasons for that will be assessed.

Got to play Hartlet, he's only missed 3 games and was burning during the trials.. he's trained hard, looks very fit and should be considered IMO.

Hartlett played in all of our trial games and has done a full pre season, so his fitness should not be bought into it, he has to play IMO for us to have any sort of chance of beating these back stabbing arseholes who shouldn't ever been allowed to enter the SANFL
