WEST v EAGLES
What are peoples thoughts for this week?
Fielke and Middleton should be in and Still should be ready to return.
Gallard and Schott also both looked good as forwards.
Keough has also done well in the ruck in the past. Middleton can also ruck.

Only saw the 2nd half of the reserves but thought Webby looked very good and should get a call up. Dijksman also got a lot of the ball but definitely needs to bulk up a bit.

Re: WEST v EAGLES
Would think Still and Bricknell would come back through the 2s as they haven't played any footy yet.
For me: in Webb, Fielke, Middleton. Out: Hopton, Thompson, probably Schiller.

Re: WEST v EAGLES
Fielke, Webb and Middleton to replace Thompson (inj), Hopton and Schiller IF webb and fielke pulled up ok from their last game of course and have trained well.
You could pick on almost every player last week as the effort was so poor!

West Adelaide v Eagles
Friday 7:20pm @ City Mazda Stadium
Radio - 5RPH
West
A pair of West Adelaide country zone players could make their league debut for the Bloods against Woodville-West Torrens at City Mazda Stadium on Friday night.
Key position player Mason Middleton (19, 192cm and 95kg) and half-forward Drew Gallard (21, 188cm and 83kg) both hail from West’s Riverland region, Middleton named at half-back and Gallard on the extended interchange bench.
‘’Mason is from Barmera-Monash while Drew is from Renmark,’’ West football services manager Andrew Marks explained.
‘’We are really happy with the development of our junior players from our country zone. They are playing good footy at the moment.’’
Prolific ball-winner Ryan Dijksman has also been selected in the 23-man squad after collecting 35 disposals and seven clearances in the reserves last Saturday night.
Defender Kurt Thompson is expected to miss 1-2 weeks with a shoulder injury.

Gee Whiz, The team is weaker than last week.
Good to see players back in the reserves but I think a 0-2 start appears likely.....

All the guys in the reserves have either been injured or operated on and have done little or no pre season.

Re: WEST v EAGLES
In previous years, members received emails from the Club on Thursday's with the team/news and on Monday's we'd receive the coach's report. Does anyone know whether this practice has ceased? It seems as though communication has gone backwards even though we heard at the AGM about new expectations/performance standards for staff. My experience this season is that we were better off before.

Re: WEST v EAGLES
Think the lack of communication is due to the new website /server issues the club is going through

Spot on brodlach - The club had large issues with the old server breaking down. The transfer of data has been difficult and is throwing up unexpected problems

Re: WEST v EAGLES
They have had a lot of time prior to the season commencing to get all of this sort of stuff in place I would have thought.
to the game, seems the team and players are about as prepared as the website and server. So many injuries, lack of pre-season and fitness. We should be right to go by Round 6.
Another thing, I like night games but I reckon we have far too many this season and I reckon it will be a smallish crowd tonight with the weather. Think the Eagles will also win unfortunately.

Re: WEST v EAGLES
Eagles were the better team on the night.
We turned the ball over too much, two times by Fisher in the second qtr cost us 2 goals.
More injuries.........
Once again free kicks........ Eagles 20 Westies 12......
Well done to Middleton, kicked 3 and looks a player!!

Re: WEST v EAGLES
Turnover really cost. Need a key marking forward.
Tuck quiet again for the second week in a row.
BADLY MISDING KEY PERSONNELL DUE TO INJURY.
A must win next week. Think Webb,Still,Bricknell and Green must play against North
What happened to Daniel Caire?. Missed him badly after quarter time?

Heard Caire did his hammy. Also hearing Tuck isn't 100% fit. Green got injured in the reserves.
Was a lot happier with the guys effort this week.

Re: WEST v EAGLES
A game we should have won despite the on-sided free ride given to the eages.
thought middleton was impressive with his opportunities. Keough was great and maybe???? found his spot. Ezard was also back to his best and half back flank may be his spot too.
We over used the handball and short kicks to 50/50 contests. We thumbled the ball fat too often. We need to get players like Bricknell, Webb, Hartlett (one week left with suspension) back in soon. Fielke will be better for his 2nd game as well. Caire is a huge loss and having no interchange in the last 3 minutes hurt us badly too. At least we could see effort and a more attacking system this week. With eight players 2 games or less against a quality side and south proving today they are the real deal, we may have found a few players that will ultimately add depth.
Agostino 16 yr old is impressive. Male and Dijkman (spelling)... are candidates for selection and I hear we may have a surprise player next week.... Also Bennett 6 foot 8 is close to resuming.
A wholesale chage to the way we move the ball forward with so many injuries was going to take time, but I felt we took a major step forward....
