There would be some optimism among the players, you'd think, about our chance this week.
My ins for the game: Corbett, Kennedy, Gay
Outs: McKenzie, Allan, Morrish

Meline to replace Squire if his suspension stands.

I agree with all that.

South still have a lot out, so you would think this is our best chance until we play Central again.

It was a ridiculous and pathetic report, in line with the standard of the umpiring on the day.

Agree with Corbett coming in, he looks like a big presence up forward.
Morrish would have to stay in for me. He at least stays on his man most of the game, wouldn’t mind seeing him in the middle as he has abit of X factor

Playing both Marslen and Corbett on the same forward line might be a problem against some teams and an asset against others.

Round 8 sees us travel to Flinders University Stadium to do battle against South this Saturday! A great contest awaits, we hope to see a large number of bloods supporters cheering us on the whole day. Hamish Ellem comes in to the team after his dominant display in the reserves last week, Lucas Meline also comes in to replace Mitch Maguire after being ruled out with a quad injury. Pat Fairlie, Sam May and Bailey Chamberlain have been added to the extended interchange bench.

In: – Bailey Chamberlain, Hamish Ellem, Pat Fairlie, Kenny Karpany, Michael Laudato, Sam May & Lucas Meline

Out: – Nic Couroupis (Knee), Mitch Maguire (Quad), Matthew McKenzie & Kobe Ryan (Knee)

In addition to which they can't even correctly spell the names of a couple of our players. Well-oiled machine in there.
And still recycling some of the same names that have consistently fallen short for years while young talents like Gay and Kennedy are bewilderingly overlooked. Where's the future in that?

Cannot really understand our selections.
As mentioned, the same names come in and out every week. It must be frustrating for the players too.
Gay has missed a bit of footy so maybe that’s why he is in the 2s.
Kennedy should be in the side.
Hopefully we see Gay, Kennedy, Corbett and Mattingly in the team soon.

Another disappointing result.
We led by 1 point at half time and played some good footy in the second quarter.
We are unable to compete when the opposition goes up a gear. South dominated the second half and won the game easily in the end.
We got smashed in the ruck and that has been a problem all year.
Josh Gore was good with 4 goals but our key forwards struggled again.
Park, Carmichael and Hartlett were also good.
We will be a midfielder down when Carmichael goes in the draft on Wednesday.
At least our Reserves are still winning……

Another bad result . When will it end . Playing players who not up to league standard , continual poor selection of players . On the field poor skills : get caught with the ball and handball it to the opposition , slipping over to often, to slow to move the ball on , failing to chase opponents once they get the ball . Pressure must be on the coach to asses his position at the club .

Things can change but right now it’s hard to see the Coach getting an extension for 2023.
He’s made no progress, and player development is poor.

We played well in the 2nd qrt the rest of the game was disappointing.
For the past 10 years I have been saying we need a Ruckman and nothing has been done. We were smashed today by Brooksby who is a quality player.

Ellam had 27 touches including 15 marks in defence in the ressies, but we played him forward.
I would play him back next week and drop Morrish or Delahunty.
Our midfield will badly miss Carmichael who played ok,his disposal let him down somewhat today.
We need to recruit a couple of quality Mids with pace. Charlie Allan must be dropped next week he simply isn’t a league midfielder. Kennedy needs to promoted and played for the rest of the year.

Our Key Forwards continue to struggle due in part to our slow ball movement.

Not sure when we will win a game. I can sense a hammering at the Bay next weekend.

Park our best followed by Hartlett, Stevens and Carmichael.

When the game was on the line we again failed miserably. An undermanned South were far too good.
We could well win a game or two, but what good would it do. Results have not improved and we have failed to acquire and develop players to the required standard. Our skill level has not improved. The coach has not delivered and must be replaced.

The beat goes on....an unmitigated disaster. We were promised success, we have had delivered abject and utter failure. A Board that has failed totally and failed to communicate, shadowy people behind the scenes who have run this club into the ground, West Adelaide people who have been cast aside and treated appallingly, where does it end? Do they even care? This Club is an utter shambles and a total disgrace. Glenelg next week, a club that has faced its own problems and gone ahead. Don't hold your breath. Tell me I'm wrong.

Made the mistake of paying for sanfl now subscription so I could watch, geez, West are a rabble.
Sick of season after season of sweet words and hope and then the reality of waiting to play Centrals for a sliver of a chance for a win.
Reality is we are 4-5 goals worse than every other side with no tangible improvement to note so far this season (like the last 7).South had half a team out and still won easily.
Pathetic, hopeless, soul crushing and pointless. Where do you end the adjectives to describe it??

Gotch in my opinion is the weakest link so goodbye .We also need to look at who helps with selection they may need to be looked at as well. We need fresh ideas with a game plan and giving youngsters a good go. We need to try something different and not the same old sh#t week after week. NOW!!!!!!!

Agree. The Coach has failed Big Time. There is no excuse to be winless this season and losing 21 in a row is completely unacceptable.
If it happened in the AFL the Coach would be sacked.
Is there a point in the season where the coach says ‘This isn’t working’ and steps aside?

Going into this game it was hard not to be a little optimistic knowing South was very much a depleted side, but alas our woes continue. I don’t think there is any doubt that a new coach will be appointed with an emphasis on crucial player development. Far better to come out and say the focus now will be on development and nurturing younger players to enable them taking the next step. Supporters will embrace development phase as long as they can actually see it, rather than shallow and hollow words. It’s time for major change if we are to look for any success in the future. Appointing a new coach who has a development background and has a history of rebuilding is the only hope moving forward.

I’d also be looking at local lads instead of going over the border. The river land game gave a chance to look at some of the kids. We should be nurturing these alliances. More chance of them staying at Westies rather than go home for any reason.

It was a miserable game of footy up to half time and only improved because South stepped up a notch and shook us off. Smashed in ruck again and I don't think we took a contested mark forward of centre for the match. So many non-contributors. Delahunty had a shocker, and Marslen, Ellem and Keough were all ineffective. A 5 goal loss to a depleted bottom 5 side after our best showing for the year was saddening.

Carmichael, though less effective, was still probably our best. Hartlett did some good things but still isn't having the impact I expected. Park was prominent but turned it over too often and Beechy went okay. I also thought Sam May was brave and commendable in defence, and Rundle did some good things but is too easily outmarked and needs to overcome that issue to be a League defender.

It's now become a perverse curiosity to see how many consecutive losses we can string together. Surely it's time for some people at the club to walk.
