I would have the same team except I would make a couple of positional changes.

Re: Round v Port Adelaide
Yes lachlan, Keough is probably best for us in defence, so you could move him back there, put Park to a HBF, Couroupis to a wing and Ryan to half forward.

Re: Round v Port Adelaide
1. Given our current situation, why would you promote Karpany to the senior squad instead of Cade Kennedy? And why would you have Ellem in the squad ahead of Corbett?
2. None of Davidson, Haysman or Hupfeld are listed as injured but none are listed to play in the Reserves. Anything going on there?
3. The club's team selection page on the website says the game is on Saturday, while the promo for cheap "pint's" says it's on Sunday.
4. We don't seem to have anyone staffing reception at the moment.

Port’s side is strong with Dixon and Fantasia in.
Haven’t seen Haysman listed for a month…….
I think the issue with Corbett could be fitness. Let’s hope he does get a go at some point. He is a good mark and kicks the ball well.

Re: Round v Port Adelaide
Aldo you are spot on with staffing issues and I wonder if this has been the reason for poor communication to supporters? It’s disappointing that supporters haven’t been informed that Haysman and Davidson have left the club. Anyone know if they are playing local footy? Would have been fitting with a write up for these 2 departures and especially Haysman for his service. Injury list not updated with Hupfeld out with shoulder I think.
Well done to the reserve boys who are at least providing us with some joy. Let’s hope that their form continues all the way through to the finals. We all need something to celebrate at our club. Tuff assignment coming up against Port and Hartlett, Beech, Ryan are all great inclusions but all go in with no match fitness. Let’s hope that Dixon has on off day because this game has the potential to be a blow out game on the scoreboard.

Re: Round v Port Adelaide
Certainly a better effort, with some good performances, although Port seemed in control most of the game.
I thought Tom Keough was our best, Carmichael is very good Edwards good as was Beech Maguire, Brand and Park.
In patches, Cleeland did some good things, as did Gore.
Probably our biggest score for some time, but Port's inaccuracy helped.
Smashed in ruck.
Looked like a very good crowd, so the finances will be helped.
Unfortunately 20 losses in a row, with South at Noarlunga to come.

Re: Round v Port Adelaide
We tried hard but we were beaten by a better side.
Brand best followed by Keough, Maguire, Carmichael and Park.
We need more of our midfielders working both ways. Allan isn’t a league player and Kennedy should take his place. Mattingly did some good things in the ressies and he should be given an opportunity.
Our midfield is poor so Why not try Ellam as a big midfielder, he’s fitter and he can run. It can’t hurt.

Yes, I agree, Lee. Certainly a better spectacle and better ball movement. I thought overall that the players made better decisions today. It reminded me of our game against the Eagles. We were never far away, but never looked like winning it. Port seemed to surge whenever we got close. Port held a commanding 34pt margin at half time, which we reduced to 17pts at 3/4 time. It was an arm wrestle in the last until Port kicked away to win by 24 pts. Port kicked 10 of its 15 goals in approx 19 minutes of play. (The first 4 - 3 in time on in the 2nd - 3 after we had drawn to within 11pts in the last) Nevertheless, kicking 12 goals is definitely a welcome change.
It will be interesting to see how we go at Noarlunga next Saturday. South are a game +% outside the five and will be desperate for a win.

Re: Round v Port Adelaide
Apart from the first 10 minutes where Port scored 4 goals to nothing, I thought we played well.
We chased, tackled and pressured them. As mentioned, we used the ball better and used the corridor at times. It was good to watch!!
We still get beaten too often in the middle and Carmichael ( from all the talk) will be drafted next week.
Stevens and Allen spent a lot of time in the middle but don’t get the footy enough.
Some good signs today but we are winless and play South and Glenelg away in the next 2 weeks.

Re: Round v Port Adelaide
That's pretty much how I saw it too wolf pack. It was easily the best we've played this season, but we still lose by 4 goals to a side that had only won 1 game. We strung some very good passages together and found more space than usual. I don't know if Port play a different structure to other SANFL clubs but we've rarely had as much space with the ball as we often had today. It was also noticeable that when we went forward we had an unusually well-populated forward line, rather than the frequent 1 on 3 scenario we've seen so much of. Maybe we did something different and it worked.
Our rucks and tall forwards generally let us down today. We need some quality in that department.I thought Carmichael and Edwards were our best, along with Maguire, Park and Beech. A couple of our onballers fumble the first take frequently, which is costly, and they need to sharpen up in the Reserves. The umpiring cost us several goals.

Re: Round v Port Adelaide
Yes, the umpiring was poor today. Charlie Dixon was looked after by the pink brigade.
Interesting that the only stat you can’t see is the free kick count.
Dylan Moore was impressive for Port with 4 goals. He is a top up player and I know that we tried to get him to Westies…..
I think we need to get Kennedy and Mattingly in the side for the back half of the season.
Our tall forwards were down today. Marslen and McKenzie held goalless
I feel that we shouldn’t have a 0 win and 7 loss record. I don’t think we are that bad. Maybe it’s more of a reflection on the coach……

Thank goodness for Brand. Our best player all year. Carmichael is good but his disposal is suspect. Kicks around corners - needs to straighten up.

Re: Round v Port Adelaide
My worry is that we often have games where the opposition comfortably get a four goal lead early then seem to coast a bit, we get closer, then they kick away again easily.
We had 9 fewer scoring shots.
I agree about the umpiring, we were very stiff, especially when we were on a roll.

Re: Round v Port Adelaide
A much better performance in many aspects however we still walk away with another loss against a side who had only won a single game. We were fortunate that Port didn’t kick straight, but on the positive we were able to kick 12 goals which hopefully restores some confidence in the playing group. I hope recruiters are looking ahead now for mid fielders. We are in desperate need of inside mids who have clean hands, make good decisions and run both your ways. Top of our list is a bull mid who is bigger bodied, clean hands and get 1st use of the pill at centre bounces and stoppages. Our outside mid types need to be endurance runners that can work out efficiently both ways. We are not going to close any gaps soon if we don’t address our deficiencies in the mid field.

Re: Round v Port Adelaide
3756 punters through the gate yesterday at Loxton.
maybe we should take our home games on the road!
as usual West supporters outnumbered by the "away" supporters.
a big pat on the back to Loxton footy Club for putting on a good show, was plenty of booze and food stalls around the ground.

I think our CEO had a lot to do with the game happening and we'll do very well out of it financially.

Maybe we can play the Cows "away" game as a roving game in our recruiting zone?
I assume we keep the gate takings for these games?
